Venezzia

August 25, 2014

A couple of months ago, when I was studying Film Art, we analyzed contemporary latin cinema, so we watch a lot of films from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico and Peru.

One of the worst films I had to watch was Venezzia (2009), a venezuelan film starring mexican soap opera actor/teenage heartthrob Alfonso Herrera.

The story, directed by  Haik Gazarin is by far, one of the worst films I´ve seen in a couple of years. The music is terrible (it aims to be melodramatic, but it is tasteless), the actors make a fool of themselves and the lines in the script are predictable and cheesy.

The photograph doesn't´ stand out, and to summarize the pain, I will just say that the film is an awful attempt of a venezuelan postcard.

The only positive thing about this movie, is that it revolves around a true story: the importance of venezuelan oil during World War II. However, if you want to learn more about this anecdote, you should just go to Wikipedia instead of putting yourself to a couple of hours of bad cinema.
